BICCL 9 – Call for Papers

The “Permanent  Committee  of  the  International  Colloquium  on  the  Chadic  Languages” is pleased to invite you to the 9th Biennial International Colloquium on the Chadic Languages (BICCL) which will take place in Villejuif, France  in September 7-8 2017.

This Colloquium will be devoted to all aspects of Chadic languages and linguistics, in particular:

– Descriptive linguistics of individual Chadic languages
– Comparative linguistics of Chadic languages
– Typology of Chadic languages
– Hausa linguistics
– The position of Chadic within Afroasiatic
– Chadic languages in contact with non-Chadic languages
– Oral literature in Chadic languages.

Registration for the Villejuif meeting should contain:

Name and address (preferably e-mail AND snail mail)
Professional affiliation
Title of paper and abstract (1 page)

The purpose of this early announcement is to allow you to search for funding, for LLACAN will not be able to provide any financial support for the participants.

Deadline for submitting title and abstract: May 31, 2017.

2nd Symposium on West African Languages: Announcement and Call for Papers

The Department of African Studies/University of Vienna is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 2nd Symposium on West African Languages. The conference will take place from 27 till 29 October, 2016 in Vienna. Papers on West African languages from all sub-disciplines of linguistics are welcome.

BICCL – 2nd cicular

The “Permanent  Committee  of  the  International  Colloquium  on  the  Chadic  Languages” has just sent out the 2nd circular to the Eight Biennial International Colloquium on the Chadic Languages (8th BICCL) to be held at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, on 4th, 5th and 6th February 2016, from Thursday morning through Saturday afternoon.

In this circular you find information on how to reach Bayreuth and where to stay, as well as the names of the participants and the tentative titles of their papers.

You will find a detailed programme of the 8th BICCL in a third circular which will be sent by mid-January 2016.

Proceedings of the 6th World Congress of African Linguistics

Proceedings of the 6th World Congress of African Linguistics (Grafik: Koeppe-Verlag)

The Proceedings of the 6th World Congress of African Linguistics, Cologne, 17-21 August 2009 have just appeared at Koeppe-Verlag (Cologne) in the series “World Congress of African Linguistics“. The volume has about 650 pages and costs € 98,00.

WOCAL7 in Buea

The 7th World Congress of African Linguistics (WOCAL7) will will be held from the 20th to the 24th of August 2012 at the University of Buea, South West Region, Cameroon. An updated programme of the congress has just been sent to the participants by the organizers. A number of papers will deal with Chadic and other Afroasiatic languages. I won’t list them here, please find out for yourself in this document (PDF file, 1,3 MB).

BICCL 6 — Poster and Programme
